​BEST OF SNOWDONIA

​Eryri, the Welsh name for Snowdonia, means 'Highlands'. It relates to the Latin word 'oriri', meaning 'to rise'. However, an eagle in Welsh is an 'eryr', and it is believed that the name derives from this, meaning 'Land of Eagles'.
